General rules and definitions
These regulations apply to the AI sim-racing platform. How it works: competitors provide an specification for vehicle setup, AI driver algorithm parameters and strategy. Given the specifications, the racing events are simulated by computer with no human intervention. Resulting simulation data is made available for analysis to competitors as a potential improvement source for next session.
Season championship
The season championship is a set of scheduled puntuable events, where drivers and teams try to achieve the maximum number of points.
Events
Events are scheduled in sessions. Session are one of these types:
Practice: Practice sessions are for free testing. Drivers start from the pit-lane. Along the session time, the drivers can make laps to the track. Although at the end of the session best lap times are reported, this session does not add points to the championship standings or has any influence.
Qualifying: Qualifying sessions are used to establishing race start order. The procedure is the same as in the practice session, with the exception that each driver's best lap defines its start position for a race session.
Race: Drivers start from grid after the start lights turn off. The winner is the first driver to complete all race laps. Races are puntuable.
In all session types
Drivers are allowed to go through the pit-lane and make pit stops.
Laps where a driver has been outside the track limits are considered not valid and do not compute in the final best lap time.
Event regulations:
A driver must participate in at least one practice session to be eligible for the qualifying and the race.
A driver must be able regularly complete valid laps in the qualifying to be eligible with its specification for the race. Drivers will be restored to their last valid specification for a track (or default, if there isn't one) in other case.
Teams
Teams are groups of drivers. All teams must have a different name and a different enough vehicle paint. Drivers in the same team must wear different enough helmet colors.
Drivers
A driver is a virtual entity managed by a competitor. Each competitor in a championship manages one driver. The competitor must define a unique name, team, helmet color to the driver. The competitor is responsible to follow the event procedures to ensure proper participation of its driver.
Simulation environment
The sessions are simulated by computer at scheduled time. The organizer is responsible of managing the simulation and satisfying schedules. All competitors are granted the possibility of being present along the simulation execution. Telemetry, results and video are generated for each session. Standings must be updated after each event.
Event procedure
This is the current procedure for events:
Event is scheduled and defined: sessions, track, vehicle, organizer... For each session is also defined type, start time/date, and duration.
Reference lap telemetry and reference driver specification are made accessible to all competitors in this site.
(For each session 1/2): Competitors must send their specifications as scheduled in case they want be granted their participation with these parameters. An arbitrary specification for a driver is used in case the organizer has not received new parameters.
(For each session 2/2): The session is executed. It can be live-streamed. Once finished, results and telemetry are made available.
The organization does not grant that competitor's specifications are stored after a session, and that telemetry is available more than 2 weeks after an event has finished. Competitors must manage their own copy of the data they consider meaningful.
Specific rules for current season
The regulations are under development and can change along the season.
Teams must have two drivers.
Practice sessions can be used to tune the driver specifications. After this, qualifying and race are run with the exact same profile, including the strategy parameters.
Race start order is the same than the qualifying session results.
At least one pit stop is required for all drivers in race sessions. Drivers without a pit stop are disqualified.
Awarded points for the first 8 drivers in an event are: 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Drivers not finishing the race do not compute points.
